We all have hair dreams and goals. I don’t care who you are, or how much or little hair you behold on your head, there’s always some level of jealousy, when comparing your locks to others…
After twenty years of hairdressing I’ve seen many a trend come and go. And by the scissors invested in me I’ve also cut and coloured a few thousand of them too. Don’t anyone ever ask for the ‘Rachel Cut’ or I may just pass out here and now. (You know, Jennifer Aniston from Friends)
The eighties and the nineties are making a strong resurgence, with some grungy backcombing sculptures going on. The punk movement will never fade as I believe a good percentage are just born that way, and all power to you rock stars!
Myself, being allergic to hair colour, (I know how bizarre and frustrating) watch on with envy as my clientele and people around the globe sport some of the most stunning colours and trends that I am crushing on big time.
Here are Neon Bimbo’s top four predictions to stay on trend with the current hair flow…
1. So peachy you can eat it
Have you already tried it? Or has the thought crossed your mind? Of course it has. Peachy combinations of blended pinks and light coppers are consistently trending across the globe.
Bright or light tones depending on your skin tone look amazing and can give the illusion of a strawberry short cake being in ‘da house. Make a statement, especially if your blonde and get around some peach goodness from your stylist.
It doesn’t have to be permanent, and can actually fade to a soft pretty peach giving you ever evolving changing hair colour, value for money!
2. Hawaiian Goddess Hair
Let’s do the hula! They say a change is a good as a holiday, as in a holiday to Hawaii! Bronzed browns, hints of honey blonde all entwined together to create a caramel delight good enough to eat.
Highlighted ends that show off that goddess tan are what dreams are made off. Think Giselle, Elle or famous surfer Alana Blanchard. Sun picking up on already in built highlights creating a worn in look that we all wish would happen overnight, but it will happen, if you’re in Hawaii 😉
3. Faded hair melts
A relatively new technique on the hairdressing forefront being used for those clients that don’t want a fresh, just coloured look. Want to be blonde but like it to look like it’s a few weeks old? Simple answer, ask for some faded melting to be done.
Toners add the sweetest touch, either giving you a gentle shimmer or quite a transition from light brown into a creamy light blonde. This application is also the perfect answer to decreasing the amount of regrowth that usually comes through.
Not only can this be done on blonde but also any fashion colours, just by altering the shade level at the roots and mid lengths.
Hairstylists are getting more savvy by the day, soon our hair colours might even be edible 😉
4. White Delights
It’s not just the winter mornings that have been frosty, white hair has been huge this year and it’s as crispy as snowflakes. These amazing pale shades have been so achievable because of the incredible lightening agents available for use in hairdressing salons.
Olaplex, Cureplex and other conditioning agents help strengthen the hair while taking it to the limit. Also the availability of toning shampoos such as MUVO maintain crisp white blondes while leaving the hair feeling as fresh as a new dump of snow at mount bulla.
